Visit to the Monasterio de Santa María de las Cuevas

The Monasterio de Santa María de las Cuevas, popularly known as the Monasterio de la Cartuja, is one of the richest and most unique monumental complexes in Seville. Located on the Isla de la Cartuja, this venue accumulates more than six centuries of history that span from its medieval monastic foundation—through whose cells Christopher Columbus passed—to its subsequent transformation into the legendary Pickman earthenware factory.

The visit allows you to tour an imposing network of cloisters, historic chapels such as Santa Ana, the chapter house with its crypt, and the characteristic bottle kilns of the old ceramics factory. Furthermore, the space shares its headquarters with the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (CAAC), merging historical industrial heritage with current artistic trends in a very suggestive way.

Access to the monumental complex and its exhibitions can be made Tuesday to Saturday during continuous hours and Sunday mornings. General admission to the monument is €1.80, with free access periods enabled by the center on certain days and time slots.
