Convent tradition and Yemas de San Leandro at the Monasterio de San Leandro

The Monasterio de San Leandro, located in the central Plaza de San Ildefonso, is a cloistered convent of the Augustinian order founded in the 13th century. This historic property, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, preserves the essence of Seville's monastic heritage and a deeply rooted artisanal gastronomic tradition.

The main attraction for city residents lies in going to its traditional revolving door ('torno') to acquire the famous Yemas de San Leandro. Made only with egg yolk and sugar using a secret recipe documented since the 16th century, they are considered one of the maximum references of convent confectionery in Spain.

The sweet sales window ('torno') is served with free access to the patio of the torno from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00. The 'yemas' and other traditional sweets are paid for by weight or box at the 'torno' itself via cash or card payment, depending on availability.
