Tour of the Roman Necropolis of Carmona

The Conjunto Arqueológico de Carmona, located about 30 kilometers from the Seville capital, guards one of the most important and best-preserved rock-excavated Roman necropolises in Spain. Dated between the 1st century B.C. and the 2nd century A.D., this funerary area allows one to understand in detail the customs, rites, and ideology surrounding death in Roman Hispania.

The tour takes the visitor into underground collective tombs carved into quarry stone, among which the monumental Tumba de Servilia—with a cloister and arches—and the dazzling Tumba del Elefante, conceived as a sanctuary dedicated to the cults of Cybele and Attis, stand out. The site also includes the Roman amphitheater and a monographic museum.

The visit is free access for accredited EU citizens (1.50€ for visitors from other countries). It opens from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 to 17:30 and Sundays from 9:00 to 15:00, with no need for prior booking for individual visits.
