Route and history at the Archivo General de Indias

The Archivo General de Indias, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO alongside the Cathedral and the Alcázar, is the key documentary repository of the Spanish Empire in America and the Philippines.

Its imposing Mannerist building preserves historical maps, autograph documents by Christopher Columbus or Magellan, and educational exhibitions on the history of maritime discoveries.

Its opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 09:30h to 17:00h and Sundays from 10:00h to 14:00h. Admission is free for the general public.
