The Archivo General de Indias is located in the former Lonja de Mercaderes of Seville, a magnificent Renaissance building designed by Juan de Herrera that guards millions of pages of fundamental documents to understand the history of navigation and the relationships between Spain and the American continent.
By accessing the building for free, you can admire its imposing monumental marble staircase and visit the temporary exhibition rooms that periodically show original historical documents of incalculable value, such as ancient maps, manuscripts of conquistadors, and royal signatures.
Access is totally free for all visitors during the morning hours from Monday to Friday. It is located in a privileged monumental enclave, right between the Cathedral and the Real Alcázar.
