Historic gardens and Almohad legacy at the Palacio de la Buhaira

The Palacio y Jardines de la Buhaira, located in the Nervión district, constitute one of the most unique landscape and historical complexes in Seville. Its origins date back to the 12th century under the Almohad caliphate of Abu Yacub Yusuf, who conceived this space (*al-buhayra*, 'little sea') as a recreational estate with olive trees, fruit trees, and a large pond fed by the Caños de Carmona.

Today, the landscaped park preserves the vestiges of the enormous Almohad pond and the archaeological ruins of the old palace, integrated into an environment of tree-lined walks, fountains, and Neo-Mudejar pergolas designed by Aníbal González at the end of the 19th century. The main palace currently functions as a civic and cultural center for the neighborhood.

The urban park can be visited with free admission. The site is open from Monday to Sunday from early morning until dusk, being an ideal space for couples and residents of the area who are looking to walk surrounded by vegetation and history in a location outside conventional tourist routes.
