Commemorative Exhibition of Juan de Mesa

The Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla hosts the largest commemorative anthology dedicated to the brilliant Baroque sculptor Juan de Mesa on the occasion of the fourth centenary of his death. This historical exhibition brings together masterpiece images from various brotherhoods, private collections, and international museums, highlighting the legacy of the eminent disciple of Martínez Montañés.

The exhibition route offers a unique opportunity to see nearly 35 iconic pieces of deep devotion and impressive anatomical realism gathered together. Among the collections, processional carvings and cult sculptures stand out, exhibited under a careful museographic design that delves into the artist's evolution and his impact on later religious sculpture.

The exhibition can be visited during the museum's usual hours from 9:00h to 21:00h (Tuesday to Saturday) and 9:00h to 15:00h (Sundays) for a general fee of 1,50€ (free for EU citizens and registered residents). As this is a high-traffic exhibition, it is recommended to arrive early in the morning to avoid queues.
