Nobiliary architecture and Mudejar art at the Palacio de la Algaba
The Palacio de los Marqueses de la Algaba is a jewel of 15th-century noble architecture located next to Calle Feria and the market. Considered one of the best civil exponents of Mudéjar art in the city, this building was on the verge of ruin before being rigorously rehabilitated to become the headquarters of the Centro Mudéjar.
Inside, you will discover a careful exhibition with more than a hundred historical pieces, which include Mudéjar jars, traditional tiles, and ornamental elements from different convents and churches in the city. Especially noteworthy are its imposing Gothic-Mudéjar doorway and the structure of its porticoed courtyard with checkered arches, which reflects the cultural crossroads between Christian and Islamic traditions.
Admission is free for all visitors. The general opening hours are from Monday to Saturday (from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and in the afternoon depending on the winter or summer season), remaining closed on Sundays and holidays. It is an ideal heritage space to learn about the less crowded Mudéjar legacy of the historic center.
