Visit to the Centro del Riego and Plaza de los Mártires
The Plaza de los Mártires in Las Cabezas de San Juan is one of the places of greatest historical importance in Spain. In this space, on January 1, 1820, Lieutenant Colonel Rafael de Riego proclaimed the Constitution of 1812, starting the Liberal Triennium and inscribing the name of the municipality in the constitutional history of the country.
In the center of the square is the commemorative bust dedicated to Riego and explanatory panels detailing the events of 1820. Around it are historical buildings and municipal institutions that make up an essential cultural stop just 14 minutes by car from Lebrija.
The tour of this urban monument has free and open access at any time of the day.
