Constitutional history at Casa Valcárcel

The Colección Museográfica Casa Valcárcel occupies a restored 18th-century mansion in the historic center of Las Cabezas de San Juan. Its museum discourse is dedicated to the famous 1820 uprising by Lieutenant Colonel Rafael de Riego, a milestone that gave rise to the Liberal Triennium in Spain.

The first floor houses an interactive audiovisual installation about the constitutionalist military pronouncement and the life of Riego. On the upper floor, archaeological pieces from the Roman, Iberian, and Medieval periods found in the municipality are exhibited, along with models and three-dimensional resources.

General admission costs 2€ (free for registered residents and children under 12). The museum is open Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and Saturdays from 10:30 to 13:30, and it is recommended to book if visiting as a group.
