Tour of the Petra of Andalusia in El Coto Las Canteras
Popularly known as the "Petra of Andalusia", El Coto Las Canteras in Osuna is a monumental underground quarry carved into the rock of the local mountain range since the Turdetan and Iberian periods. For centuries, ashlar stone was extracted from this rocky substrate to build the ancient Roman Urso and the 16th-century Renaissance palaces.
Nowadays, the site is breathtaking due to its enormous naves excavated into the mountain, with ceilings over 25 meters high and spectacular bas-reliefs carved directly into the stone that recreate Iberian sculptures and symbology. The uniqueness of the cavernous landscape also served as a natural filming location for the famous series *Game of Thrones*.
It can usually be visited from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00. The general admission price is 4€ for adults (with free access for children under 10). Tickets are purchased directly at the site's ticket office upon arrival.
