Monumental visit to the Monastery of San Isidoro del Campo

Founded in 1301 by Alonso Pérez de Guzmán (Guzmán el Bueno) and his wife María Alonso Coronel, the Monasterio de San Isidoro del Campo is a unique medieval fortress-temple. Declared a National Monument, it exceptionally crosses Gothic and Mudejar styles, having served as a seat for the Cistercian and Hieronymite orders for more than seven centuries.

During the self-guided visit, you can tour the historic Claustro de los Muertos, admire the main altarpiece sculpted by Martínez Montañés, and contemplate an outstanding set of medieval wall paintings. The space has totally free admission and can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday starting at 10:00.

It is located just 10 minutes by car from Seville, very close to the ruins of Itálica in Santiponce, which allows you to combine both historical visits in the same morning.
