Gastronomic visit to the Mercado de la Encarnación

The Mercado de la Encarnación is the oldest food market in the city, whose origins date back to 1842 on the grounds of the old medieval convent of the same name. After its modern reconstruction, it today occupies the ground floor of the famous wooden structure of Las Setas de Sevilla.

The space brings together forty stalls where fresh fish from the Andalusian coast, select meats, fruits, vegetables from the garden, cold cuts, and Iberian products are sold. In addition to being the usual shopping market for residents of the Casco Antiguo, the market has small traditional bars and gourmet tasting stalls to have tapas with freshly prepared products.

Access to the commercial area is free and open. The market opens its stalls from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, remaining closed on Sundays.
