In the heart of the Santa Cruz neighborhood stands the Hospital de los Venerables, a splendid 17th-century Baroque building founded as a residence for elderly priests. Inside, it houses the headquarters of the Velázquez Center, a space dedicated to the Seville period of the famous Baroque painter.

During the visit, one contemplates the magnificent tree-lined central courtyard, the Baroque church full of frescoes by Valdés Leal, and the pictorial collection which includes masterpieces by Diego Velázquez, Murillo, and other masters of the period.
