Visit to the Real Fábrica de Tabacos de Sevilla

The Antigua Real Fábrica de Tabacos, current headquarters of the Rectory of the University of Seville, is the largest 18th-century industrial building in Spain and a jewel of European neoclassical architecture. Built to house the thriving tobacco industry of the city, its walls, moats, and watchtowers testify to the strong state control that surrounded tobacco production in the modern era.

During the visit, it is possible to tour its majestic interior courtyards autonomously or with a guide, such as the Patio del Reloj and the Patio de la Fuente, the wide monumental staircase, the complex's chapel, and the historical plaster cast gallery. In addition, the building evokes the universal figure of the Sevillian cigarreras and the romantic myth of Carmen.

Free access to common areas and courtyards is available from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Admission is free, with the possibility of booking guided tours at no cost through the university cultural heritage service with mandatory prior reservation.
