Paseo y compras en el Mercado de Abastos de Triana
Located at the foot of the Puente de Triana over the former medieval defensive site, the Mercado de Triana combines traditional food market commercial activity with an interesting underground space of historical memory. Beneath the current stalls, the visitable archaeological remains of the Castillo de San Jorge, former headquarters of the Inquisition Tribunal, are preserved.
On the top floor, one can enjoy the bustle of the fresh produce stalls and modern food stands, while on the lower level, the interpretation center exposes the harsh history of the inquisitorial tribunal through carefully crafted didactic panels.
Access to the underground remains has popular rates and allows one to understand a very unique hidden side of the city's quintessential maritime neighborhood.
