Panoramic view from the Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Built on the hill where the old Almohad fortress of Hisn al-Zahr once stood, the Monumental Complex of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is one of the hallmarks of San Juan de Aznalfarache. Erected in the 1940s under the initiative of Cardinal Segura, it combines Neo-Mudéjar and Baroque features with a privileged viewpoint over the region.

The complex is articulated around an immense exposed brick tower crowned by the statue of Christ blessing the city, the portico with arches, the terraced gardens, and the Crypt of Cardinal Segura. The walk through the outdoor terraces and panoramic viewpoints is free to access all year round.

The monument is located just 8 minutes by car from Seville crossing the bridge over the Guadalquivir river. For those who prefer public transport, it has a direct connection via the inclined elevator from the San Juan Bajo metro station.
