Birdwatching and nature in the Dehesa de Abajo

The Dehesa de Abajo Concerted Nature Reserve, located between the pine forests and marshes of La Puebla del Río, is one of the main gateways to the natural environment of Doñana. It stands out for housing the largest breeding colony of white storks on wild olive trees in all of Europe, offering a landscape of Mediterranean dehesa and wetlands of great ornithological value.

In the reserve, you can take walking or cycling routes bordering the La Rianzuela lagoon and access the wooden observatories enabled for spotting flamingos, spoonbills, and purple swamphens. Free access to the venue is free of charge with opening hours from 9:00 to 20:30 hours in summer and from 9:00 to 18:00 hours in winter. For organized groups, there are guided routes by reservation with a price of €6 for adults and €3 for children.

It is recommended to bring binoculars or a spotting scope to fully enjoy birdwatching from the observatory hides. The visitor center has a parking area and restaurant to complete the day in nature.
