'Améfrica' exhibition at the CAAC
The Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo hosts the exhibition *Améfrica. Diasporic Connections in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection*, co-produced in collaboration with El Espacio 23 center in Miami. Curated by Hélio Menezes, the exhibition starts from the famous concept coined by Afro-Brazilian thinker Lélia Gonzalez to make visible the African aesthetic and cultural footprint in the historical construction of the Americas.
Distributed in the spacious rooms of the Claustrón Norte and Este, 128 works created by 99 artists of diverse generations and geographical origins are exhibited. The exhibition proposes a multidisciplinary dialogue of painting, photography, and installation that dismantles Eurocentric discourses and reflects on the living archive of the Black Atlantic.
The general admission fee to the center is 3,01€, with free access from Tuesday to Friday from 19:00 to 21:00 and Saturdays from 11:00 to 21:00. Given its relevance, the exhibition will enjoy a long stay until January 10, 2027.
