Universal devotion and treasures at the Basilica and Museum of the Macarena

The Basílica de Santa María de la Esperanza Macarena is the Neo-Baroque temple built in the mid-20th century in the historic San Gil neighborhood. It houses the celebrated image of the Virgen de la Macarena and the Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Sentencia.

Attached to the temple is the Museo Tesoro de la Macarena, a three-story space featuring processional mantles, the Marian trousseau, gold crowns, and the processional floats of Maundy Thursday into Good Friday.

Access to the Basílica de la Macarena is free, while admission to the Museo del Tesoro costs 5€ (3.50€ online rate). The general opening hours are Monday to Sunday from 9:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 21:00.
