Bird watching at the Laguna del Gobierno Nature Reserve

Located less than a kilometer from the urban center of Lantejuela, the Laguna del Gobierno is the most representative wetland of the local Endorheic Complex. Declared a nature reserve, it is the only lagoon in the ecosystem that maintains water all year round thanks to the water contribution from the municipal treatment plant.

The enclave is a strategic point for birdwatching tourism in the region, offering an environment equipped with perimeter paths, a bird observatory, and a nature classroom. Entrance to the area is with Free admission, and it is common to observe protected species such as the white-headed duck, pink flamingos, or the mallard. The venue has regulated access Monday to Sunday during daytime hours.

It is recommended to bring binoculars or a telescope to fully enjoy the birdlife from the viewing huts. To request access to the interior observatory, it is preferable to contact the city council's information point beforehand.
