Monumental visit to the Monastery of San Isidoro del Campo

The Enclave Monumental de San Isidoro del Campo is a Monastery-Fortress founded in 1301 by Guzmán el Bueno and María Alonso Coronel to bury their lineage. Located in Santiponce a few meters from Itálica, this historic temple has housed the Cistercian and Hieronymite orders, also becoming a fundamental focal point of the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century with figures such as Casiodoro de Reina.

The space surprises with its unique double-church architecture where Languedoc Gothic and Almohad Mudejar tradition converge. During the tour of the site, you visit the Claustro de los Muertos, the Capilla del Reservado, the refectory, and the Gothic churches, where the magnificent main altarpiece sculpted by Martínez Montañés with the image of Saint Jerome Penitent stands out.
