Aires de Cuaresma Processional Band Competition
Aires de Cuaresma is the grand processional music competition organized by the City Council to fill the town's historic center with marching bands and brotherhood identity. This musical gathering is held as a sonic prelude to Holy Week in the Aljarafe region, bringing together hundreds of residents around Andalusian traditions in the iconic Plaza de Casa Grande.
The competition features the participation of prestigious musical groups and drum and bugle corps from all over Andalusia, such as Las Cigarreras, the Banda de la Cruz Roja, or the Agrupación Musical Santa Cecilia. Additionally, the charity event Reto 3000+1 is held in parallel, with a refreshment service whose proceeds go to the Romería de San Ildefonso. The event has free admission and kicks off at 12:00h on March 15, 2026.
To attend, it is advisable to arrive at the old town area with time to spare, as parking in the vicinity of Casa Grande usually fills up quickly before the performances begin.
