Visit to the Capilla de Nuestra Señora de la Aurora

The Capilla de Nuestra Señora de la Aurora is an emblematic Baroque oratory located in the heart of the historic center of Lebrija, whose construction was completed in the year 1717. Originally linked to an ancient brotherhood that venerated the Assumption next to the now-disappeared Puerta de Sevilla, the chapel is today a living testimony of popular devotion and sacred architecture in the Bajo Guadalquivir.

Inside, with a single nave, a magnificent wooden coffered ceiling stands out, as well as an 18th-century main altarpiece attributed to the Navarro workshop, presided over by the titular image of the Virgen de la Aurora. During the tour, you can also contemplate valuable Baroque carvings such as the Virgen de la Victoria or the Cristo de la Humildad, in addition to the careful exterior facade made of exposed brick with its elegant belfry.

The temple has free admission and is regularly open Monday through Friday in the afternoon for worship, with the late afternoon being the best time to enjoy the quiet atmosphere and the lighting of its altarpiece.
