Visit to the Church of Santa María de la Asunción and its Moorish courtyard
Built over an old Aljama mosque, of which the orange tree courtyard is still preserved, the Iglesia de Santa María de la Asunción is the mother church of Écija. Its majestic Baroque tower dominates the central Plaza de España, combining Gothic-Mudejar elements with extensive 18th-century renovations.
Inside, the main altarpiece stands out, a parish museum with invaluable goldsmith work, and the garden courtyard where absolute tranquility is breathed. It is open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 13:30 and in the afternoons from 18:00 to 20:30, with a cultural donation of €2 per person.
