Exploration of the Plaza de Armas Archaeological Site

On the hill of the Alcázar Real lies the Yacimiento Arqueológico de Plaza de Armas, a privileged window to over three thousand years of uninterrupted human occupation in ancient Astigi. It is the exact place where famous Roman mosaics such as those of Bacchus or the 'Amores' have been unearthed.

Raised walkways allow visitors to comfortably tour the open-air excavations and observe Iberian foundations, Roman domus with paved rooms, and medieval fortifications. The plan is offered as Free access with reservation at the Tourism Office, being very educational for visiting as a family group.

It is advisable to wear suitable footwear for walking and a hat to protect yourself from the sun during the central hours of the day.
