Visit to the Iglesia de San Felipe

The Iglesia de San Francisco is one of the places of worship with the most character and history in the old town of Carmona. Founded at the beginning of the 16th century at the initiative of the Duchess of Arcos, Beatriz Pacheco, the church was built over the old Capilla de los Pastores, an oratory strategically located at the foot of the traditional livestock route towards Seville.

Inside, there is an impressive 17th-century Seville tile baseboard that runs along the nave walls, as well as its valuable Baroque collection of altarpieces and imagery. Among the most admired artistic pieces is the 18th-century Purísima Concepción, a delicate carving of the Child Jesus attributed to La Roldana's workshop and the expressive relief of the Capilla de las Ánimas.

To organize the visit, access is free admission and the temple remains open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00. Its location on Calle San Francisco allows you to discover on foot one of the areas with the most neighborhood flavor of the municipality.
