Discovery of the monumental Puerta de Córdoba
At the eastern end of the fortified enclosure stands the Puerta de Córdoba, an imposing gate of Roman origin that provided an exit to the ancient Vía Augusta in the direction of Corduba.
Renovated in the 16th century according to Renaissance canons, it features two paired Doric columns and carved royal coats of arms that flank the monumental entrance to the historic center.
Contemplation of the exterior of the monumental bastion is free and open access permanently throughout the day.
