Discovery of the Flour Mills of Guadaíra

The protected natural space of the Monumento Natural Riberas del Guadaíra houses a unique ethnographic heritage in Andalusia: the network of flour mills of medieval and Islamic origin. This pedestrian path runs parallel to the riverbed, surrounded by abundant riverside vegetation such as poplars, hackberries, and willows, recalling the historical baking tradition that gave Alcalá universal fame.

During the walk, visitors discover emblematic mills such as the Molino del Algarrobo, the Molino de San Juan, the Oromana, or the Tapada. The route allows you to appreciate stone arches over the water, ancient gutters, and hydraulic devices that used the force of the current to grind wheat. It is an accessible activity, ideal to do on foot or by bicycle in a quiet and shaded environment.

The trail has free and open access throughout the day. It is recommended to start the walk from the Oromana Park area during autumn mornings and to wear comfortable hiking shoes.
