The Castillo de Morón de la Frontera stands on the highest point of the municipality, dominating the transition between the Campiña and the Sierra Sur of Seville. With origins dating back to Iberian and Roman times, this defensive complex acquired its greatest prominence during the Middle Ages as a border enclave and later noble residence of the Counts of Ureña.
The fortified enclosure offers an outdoor walk among remains of walls, medieval towers, and panoramic viewpoints over the entire countryside. The visit to the consolidated ruins is free admission all day, which allows you to walk up from the San Miguel parish church or access by car to the upper area.
The journey from Utrera via the A-361 road is about 25 minutes. It is advisable to go up at the end of the afternoon to enjoy the sunset over the town of Morón and wear comfortable shoes to navigate the cobblestone sections.
