Night visit and history at the Castillo de Alcalá de Guadaíra

Crowned on the hill that dominates the Guadaíra River 20 minutes from Sevilla, the Castillo de Alcalá de Guadaíra is one of the most extensive and best-preserved medieval fortresses in the province. Its origin dates back to the Almohad period (12th-13th centuries), undergoing subsequent Christian renovations that shaped a walled enclosure with 11 defensive towers, an alcazar, and parade grounds.

In addition to the morning walk along its ramparts and the Interpretation Center, the site hosts a popular program of free guided night visits. During these 50-minute evening passes, participants tour the artistically illuminated fortress while a guide explains the bastioned defenses and the medieval history of the town.

Daytime access to the castle is free and open. For the guided night visits on the weekend (Fridays and Saturdays at 21:00h and 21:30h; Sundays at 21:00h), participation is 0€ but requires mandatory prior booking, with tickets being released on Mondays on the Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council platform.
