Devotion and seafaring heritage in the Capilla de los Marineros

In the heart of Triana, on Calle Pureza, stands the Capilla de los Marineros, the canonical seat of the Hermandad de la Esperanza de Triana. Built in 1759 on the former site of the Colegio de Mareantes of the guild of potters and sailors, the chapel is a focal point of Sevillian popular devotion.

The temple preserves an impressive 18th-century Baroque main altarpiece brought from the Convento de la Merced in Osuna, presided over by the venerated image of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza de Triana. In the Sagrario nave resides the famous carving of the Santísimo Cristo de las Tres Caídas (16th century). Attached to the chapel is the Tesoro Devocional museum with embroidered mantles and processional gold and silverware.

Access to the temple for visits and veneration is free of charge, opening Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 18:00 to 21:00, and on Sunday mornings. The visit to the treasure museum halls has a price of 4€ per person.
