Visit to the Church of the Convento de San Pedro
The Church of the Convento del Carmen de Osuna, erected at the beginning of the 16th century and promoted by the Carmelite Order since 1606, constitutes a building of great historical-artistic relevance that combines features of the Andalusian Renaissance with the spirit of the Sevillian convent Baroque.
The interior of its single nave surprises with its careful roof and, very especially, with its monumental main altarpiece of unpainted carved wood, designed in the 18th century by the carver Antonio Primo. The warm nakedness of the sculpted wood highlights the reliefs and sacred images, making it a truly unique artistic element in the region.
Entrance to the church is free access. The temple usually opens for worship from Monday to Saturday from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and on Sunday mornings from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, opportune moments to admire with calm the acoustics and sobriety of its interior heritage.
