Tour of the Almohad Walls and the Arco de la Rosa

Marchena preserves one of the most outstanding defensive walled complexes of Andalusian origin in the province. In this monumental layout, the Puerta de Sevilla - Arco de la Rosa stands out, an emblematic access rebuilt in the 15th century on Almohad foundations that connected the old walled medina with the roads towards the countryside.

The exterior route runs along the old barbican, the Puerta de Morón, and the restored ramparts of the Alcazaba enclosure. As it is an open urban space, the route has Free access and can be carried out without time restrictions throughout the whole day, with sunset hours being the most recommended for photographing the monumental architecture.

It is advised to start the walk at the Puerta de Morón, home to the local tourist office, where it is possible to obtain an explanatory map of the best-preserved walls and defensive towers.
