Tour of the Monasterio de la Encarnación and its Tile Collection

The Monasterio de la Encarnación was erected in the 16th century as a royal hospital and transformed in 1626 into a cloistered monastery of the Discalced Mercedarian order. Its Baroque building hides one of the best-preserved ceramic treasures of Andalusia.

The tour of the Monasterio de la Encarnación passes through the cloistered inner courtyard, adorned with an iconic plinth of 18th-century tiles from the Seville school with biblical scenes and everyday life of the time, in addition to a collection of Baroque sacred sculpture.

The access ticket costs 4€ general admission for a morning tour from 10:00h to 13:30h. At the end of the guided tour, it is traditional to purchase conventual pastries made by the nuns themselves at the entrance gate.
