Zurbarán Collection at the Parroquia de San Juan Bautista

In the heart of the old town of Marchena stands the Parroquia de San Juan Bautista de Marchena, a superb Gothic-Mudéjar temple built at the end of the 15th century. This sacred site houses the famous Museo Zurbarán, a parish art gallery that safeguards one of the most valuable painting collections in Andalusia attributed to the great master of the Spanish Baroque.

The permanent exhibition features nine original canvases commissioned to Francisco de Zurbarán in 1634, among which masterpieces such as The Immaculate, Saint Peter, or Saint John the Baptist stand out. Entry to the museum room is by paying a 2€ donation destined for the maintenance of the temple, with cultural visiting hours from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00h to 13:00h.

To get there, the best option is to leave the vehicle in the vicinity of the wall and walk towards the Plaza de San Juan. It is recommended to complement the visit by admiring the main altarpiece and the monumental ironwork of the temple.
