Visit to the Hernán Cortés House-Palace
The Hernán Cortés House-Palace, known formally as the Palace of the Dukes of Montpensier, is one of the most emblematic historical properties of the 16th century on the Aljarafe cornice. In this Neo-Mudéjar enclave, the famous conqueror spent his last days and passed away in the year 1547.
The visit allows you to admire the noble facade of the building, its well-kept historical gardens, and the commemorative plaques that mark the rooms where he drafted his will. In the garden, there is also the curious burial site of Cordobés, Cortés' famous horse. Currently, the building houses the Colegio de las Irlandesas.
Located on Calle Real in Castilleja de la Cuesta, just an 8-minute drive from Mairena, the tour of its exterior and monumental surroundings is free, and it is recommended to consult with the institution for guided tours or specific interior access.
