Tour of the exterior of the Antiguo Cuartel de Caballería

The Antiguo Cuartel de Caballería de Utrera is one of the most unique civil buildings in the province. Originally built in 1577 under the reign of Philip II, this large Castilian exposed-brick building was conceived to house the cavalry troops that guarded the roads to Seville and the Atlantic coast.

Although the property has currently been rehabilitated for residential use, its imposing exterior facade preserves intact Mannerist elements from the 16th century, such as its sober stone portal, noble coats of arms, and its characteristic traditional wrought-iron windows.

A walk around its exterior perimeter allows you to appreciate the monumentality of Andalusian Renaissance military architecture. Access to the surrounding streets is free and permanent 24 hours a day, and it is recommended to complete it with a walk through the adjacent alleys.
