Archaeological and monumental visit to El Coto de las Canteras

Popularly known as the Petra of Andalusia, the carved quarry of Coto de las Canteras is an imposing excavation of ashlar stone of Turdetan and Roman origin used historically in the town's buildings. Its enormous scale excavated directly into the rock creates an underground landscape of great monumental uniqueness.

Inside the protected space, you can walk through a majestic cavity with ceilings more than 25 meters high, adorned with sculpted reliefs and exhibits about the millenary stone extraction in the ancient Urso. It is one of the most striking heritage surprises in the region.

The general entrance fee is 3€ for adults and free for minors, opening regularly from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00. It is recommended to bring a light jacket for the cool interior temperature and footwear suitable for stone ground.
