Castra Legionis IX: International Living History Festival
The town of Gilena hosts a new edition of the historical reenactment festival Castra Legionis IX, focused this year on the myths and legends of The Odyssey. This biennial event brings together more than 140 historical reenactors from eleven countries at the Colección Museográfica de Gilena y Arqueódromo Campo de Marte. The event kicks off on September 4th, 2026 and offers complete immersion in the Greco-Roman and Mediterranean antiquity.
During three full days, the public will be able to see military exhibitions, period camps, historical monologues, and an impressive full-size assembly of the Trojan Horse. Entry on Friday, September 4th is free, while on Saturday and Sunday, access requires a ticket of 8€ for adults and 6€ for children per day. Capacity is limited and the program officially starts at 19:00h.
