Visit to the Baroque heritage of the Collegiate Church of Olivares

The Iglesia Colegial de Santa María de las Nieves in Olivares is one of the most notable heritage jewels in the region. Founded as a chapel and pantheon by the Counts of Olivares and elevated to a collegiate church by a papal bull promoted by the Conde-Duque de Olivares (favorite of Philip IV), it constituted the spiritual and artistic center of the duchy.

The temple houses highly prominent artistic works signed by Francisco de Zurbarán, Pedro Roldán, and the sculptor María Roldán, creator of the titular carving of the Virgin of the Snows. Furthermore, the building houses the Capilla de las Reliquias, which preserves a set of 80 reliquaries brought from Rome during the 17th century.

Entrance for the cultural visit to the temple is free and self-guided. Its usual opening hours from Monday to Saturday are from 10:00 to 14:00, so it is recommended to organize the visit within that morning slot.
