Visit to the Conjunto Arqueológico de Itálica

The Conjunto Arqueológico de Itálica, the first Roman city founded in Hispania (206 B.C.) and birthplace of emperors Trajan and Hadrian, is located in Santiponce. The entrance fee is free for EU citizens (1.50€ for others). Its ruins offer a living lesson in ancient history and monumental heritage a very short distance from the capital and its surroundings.

The tour allows you to admire the Roman amphitheater, one of the largest in the Empire with a capacity for 25,000 spectators, as well as the layout of the *nova urbs*. In the *domus*, impressive mosaics preserved in their original site stand out, such as those in the Casa de los Pájaros and the Casa del Planetario. Visiting hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 15:00 during the summer period.

To avoid intense heat, it is recommended to arrive early in the morning. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes, a hat, and carry water, as the path along the Roman stone roads requires walking outdoors for quite some time.
