Visit to the Iglesia Prioral de Santa María de la Asunción
The Iglesia Prioral de Santa María de la Asunción is the grandest temple in Carmona and one of the summits of late Gothic in the province of Seville. Built on the site of the former Almohad great mosque, it still preserves its beautiful Patio de los Naranjos inside.
The interior stands out for its towering Gothic naves, the monumental Renaissance Retablo Mayor —considered a masterpiece of Andalusian imagery— and the sacramental chapel where the venerated patron saint, the Virgen de Gracia, resides.
Touristic admission costs €6 and includes an interactive audio guide and access to the historic courtyard and sacred art museum. Touristic visiting hours are usually from 10:00h to 18:00h.
