Visit to the Jorge Bonsor House Museum in the Castillo de Mairena

The Casa Museo Jorge Bonsor - Castillo de Mairena is an imposing fortress of medieval origin that was transformed at the beginning of the 20th century by the famous English archaeologist and Hispanist George Bonsor. The building combines elements of Mudéjar and Renaissance military architecture with the Neo-Islamic charm typical of Romanticism, housing a valuable collection of archaeological finds, historical documents, and personal belongings that tell of Bonsor's passion for Andalusian heritage.

During the guided tour, visitors explore the parade ground, the palatial area, and the private living quarters, preserved with the same exhibition discourse devised by the researcher himself. One can contemplate everything from archaeological pieces from sites in Los Alcores to ethnographic collections, paintings, antique weapons, and an extensive historical library, all surrounded by a magnificent botanical garden and the olive grove park.

To attend, it is recommended to make a mandatory prior booking through the Tourist Office. The ticket price is €5 general and €2.50 reduced, with free access every Thursday with prior booking. Guided tours are usually held in the morning, so it is advisable to arrive with time to walk quietly through the perimeter park.
