Historical hiking through the Cueva de la Batida quarry

The Paraje Natural Cueva de la Batida offers an outdoor route that combines nature and history on the outskirts of Carmona. This area was an ancient Roman and medieval quarry where the 'alcoriza' stone used to build the city's temples and walls was extracted.

The trail runs alongside imposing, hand-carved sandstone walls over ten meters high, rocky cavities, and abandoned cave churches. The route offers wide panoramic views of the Alcores agricultural fields.

The route is free access with no fees. In the month of September, it is ideal to do the walk at dawn or sunset to avoid the central hours of the sun.
