Tour of the Archaeological Site of the Roman Necropolis
The Necrópolis Romana de Carmona constitutes one of the most important and best-preserved funerary complexes from the classical period in the entire Iberian Peninsula. Discovered at the end of the 19th century, this archaeological area carved into the rock bears witness to the cremation and inhumation rituals practiced between the 1st century B.C. and the 4th century A.D.
During the visit, you will be able to tour unique underground monuments such as the Tumba del Elefante—linked to oriental cults—and the Tumba de Servilia, a monumental mausoleum that mimics the structure of a Roman domus with a porticoed courtyard and peristyle. The center also features a monographic museum that displays the rich funerary goods found in the excavations.
