Ethnographic tour of the Route of the Pillars of Carmona

The Ruta de los Pilares de Carmona is an environmental and ethnographic heritage itinerary designed by the City Council to make known the historic springs and watering holes that guaranteed the water supply to the population and local livestock from Roman times to the modern era.

The path runs through unique stone constructions such as the Pilar de Mealargo (located near the Cueva de la Batida quarry), the Pilar del León, and the Pilar de las Bóvedas. In addition to observing the traditional hydraulic architecture, the itinerary offers clear views of the olive groves and gardens of the Vega del Corbones.

It is an open-air route with totally free access, suitable for walkers, families, and bicycle enthusiasts. The route is equipped with interpretive panels and usually starts from the Rotonda de los Caballos or the Puerta de Córdoba.
