Pilgrimage of San Mateo

The Romería de San Mateo is a traditional festivity that commemorates the historical entry of the troops of King Fernando III the Saint into Carmona on September 21, 1247. This celebration combines traditional fervor with the city's historical memory.

Events begin in the morning with mass and the subsequent processional pilgrimage towards the surroundings of the Ermita de San Mateo. Throughout the day, participants enjoy a day of country socializing with horse rides, flamenco singing, and local gastronomy.

Attendance at the pilgrimage is free of charge. It is advisable to wear comfortable footwear to accompany the journey on foot and hats or sun protection for the central hours of the day.
