Tapas and Architecture at the Carmona Food Market

The Mercado de Abastos de Carmona stands on the plot that occupied the old convent of Santa Catalina de Siena, erected in 1842 according to the neoclassical project of Ramón del Toro. The uniqueness of the space lies in its large square courtyard flanked by four arcaded galleries with arches and stone columns.

Currently, the venue combines traditional meat, fruit, and produce stalls with small gastronomic stalls and terraces in the central cloister. It is an ideal enclave to taste specialties of the Sevillian countryside, such as local cured meats, stews, or fried fish in a unique monumental setting.

Entrance to the venue is Free admission. The ideal time to enjoy the tapas atmosphere is during the central hours of noon at the Mercado de Abastos de Carmona.
