Tour of the Torta Inglesa in the bakeries of Carmona

Gastronomic tour through the historic center to taste the most famous and native sweet of Carmona: the Torta Inglesa. Its origin is attributed to the taste of the British archaeologist George Bonsor, who used to order it during his campaigns in the Necropolis.

This pastry specialty consists of layers of crispy puff pastry filled with angel hair and sprinkled with icing sugar and cinnamon (there are also versions filled with cream or truffle). Artisan bakeries and pastry shops such as the Pastelería Taifa or the counter of the Convento de Santa Clara keep traditional recipes alive.

The establishments in the center usually open during business hours from 09:00 to 14:00h and from 17:30 to 20:30h. They can be tasted in individual portions from 2€ per portion.
